Wild Neighbourhood was a mini arts and environmental festival to celebrate Cruinniú na nÓg, Ireland’s national day of free creativity for children and young people. The festival was a collaboration between Grasshopper and Dublin City University supported by Creative Ireland and Dublin City Council Arts Office.
Wild Neighbourhood explored creative ways to embrace nature in the city, highlighting the urban wildlife and habitat of DCU’s All Hallows campus. We worked with DCU Arts and Culture and Environmental Departments to create an event featuring storytelling and poetry, live music, outdoor games, dance, circus and art workshops, a nature trail, a library lair and plenty of outdoor family fun.
Wild Neighbourhood had an incredibly positive response from the local audience:
‘We attended the Wild Neighbourhood event in All Hallows campus with our 6 year old twins. The event was absolutely wonderful, incredibly well organised and the activities/ entertainment for both children and adults was excellent. The musicians were fantastic and my children especially loved the opportunity to dance, make art and listen to stories. All in all, a wonderful afternoon.’
